We also want to share information and resources that will help you protect your vehicle between appointments. Here’s what you’ll want to know about caring for your tires and checking their tread depth.
How to Measure Tread Depth
It’s important to maintain the tread on your vehicle’s tires, which is why we recommend scheduling regular tire rotations. When the tread gets too low or it wears down unevenly, it can reduce driver control on the road. This may lead to limited vehicle responsiveness and make your vehicle less safe and reliable.
The good news is that it’s easy to check your vehicle’s tread depth right from the comfort of home, and all you need is a penny.
The Penny Test
If you suspect that the tread on your tires is getting low, place a penny into the tread with Lincoln’s head facing down. If you can see the entirety of his forehead, your tread is too low and your tires will likely need to be replaced. If some or all of his forehead is covered by the tread, your tires are still safe to drive on.
You can protect your tire tread by keeping your vehicle’s tires properly inflated, scheduling routine tire rotations, and avoiding rough driving conditions as much as possible.
Mercedes-Benz of Jacksonville is here to help every step of the way. We’ll inspect, rotate, and replace your tires as needed and continue to share essential service information. Schedule Mercedes-Benz tire maintenance and more in Jacksonville today!
