When many drivers think about Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the first word they think of is probably luxury. But here at Mercedes-Benz of Jacksonville, we believe that there’s another word that should come to mind immediately after. Performance. Our cars have never been a slouch when it comes to power or driving experience, and Mercedes-Benz is always working on new technology and efficient upgrades. In fact, it just developed four new engines that will make drivers of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class sit up and take notice.

All four of these engines have been designed to improve performance and fuel economy while reducing emissions. Two of these engines are inline-six cylinder units, which may excite some long time fans of this luxury brand. More than a decade ago, Mercedes-Benz vehicles stopped using inline-sixes in favor of V6 engines. The new options include the M256, a 3.0-liter gas engine that can produce more than 400 horsepower and around 370 lb-ft of torque, and a diesel-powered inline-six that can put out 313 horsepower while using seven percent less fuel than previous models. We think that drivers will be glad that the inline-six has made a comeback once they experience these engines for themselves.

But that’s not all. The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class will also offer a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, currently referred to as the M176. This engine can produce 476 horsepower, an improvement over the previous generation, and offers features like cylinder deactivation, which can help ensure that your vehicle isn’t wasting energy and using more power than it needs. Finally, Mercedes-Benz will also let drivers equip their new vehicle with a super-efficient 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that boasts improved fuel economy.

We can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class to see how some of these new engines perform, and we know that many of our customers will feel the same way! In the meantime, visit our Jacksonville, FL Mercedes-Benz dealership to take one of our amazing luxury vehicles for a test drive today. We hope to meet you soon!
