Mercedes-Benz is known for building some innovative vehicles. Here at Mercedes-Benz of Jacksonville, you won’t just find sleek coupes and luxury sedans. You’ll also find capable crossovers, comfy SUVs, and even the unique Mercedes-Benz G-Class G 550. This large and luxurious vehicle is sure to turn heads, but it looks like Mercedes-Benz isn’t quite done experimenting with this distinctive model just yet. A recent teaser indicates that its engineers are hard at work on a convertible version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

This isn’t the first time Mercedes-Benz has offered a convertible version of this classic off-road vehicle. Production of a two door variant with a removable cloth top ended officially in Europe with a limited edition run of just 200 cars in 2013, but now it looks like there could be demand for it once again. This new convertible would likely be based on the four-wheel drive version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class G65, not the 6×6 edition.

So far, there’s been no news about a power upgrade for this new convertible, but it probably doesn’t require one. The current production version of this vehicle comes equipped with a twin-turbocharged, 6.0-liter V12 engine that can produce more than 620 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque! The Mercedes-Benz G-Class G65 can handle just about anything that you can throw at it. This new model could make its debut at the inaugural Monaco Auto Show this month, or it could appear just in time for convertible weather this March at the Geneva Motor Show. We can’t wait to learn more about this capable luxury SUV!
